From Concept to National Impact
Founded in 2020 during COVID-19, KISWATE began by addressing key education and community challenges in Kenya. From providing hot meals to launching a continental digital academy, our journey reflects innovation, compassion, and impact at scale.
2020
KISWATE provided a plate of hot lunch to candidate classes (Grade 6 and Class 8) for 1 year during COVID-19 at Lwero Primary School.
2021
Lunch program expanded to St. Joseph Ochiel and Uyundo Primary Schools. Achieved 100% transition to secondary school and featured in national news. KISWATE Scholarship Fund was established.
2022
Scholarship Fund sponsored students en masse to secondary schools via the Digital Academy. Over 300 students benefited, with many joining universities and colleges.
2023
KISWATE scholars in university launched KISWATE TV under the founder's vision. A professional media trainer was hired to mentor them as journalists.
2024
KISWATE TV became a trusted communication channel for supporters, countering misinformation on social media. KISWATE also participated in the Great Places to School Dinner Gala.
June 2025
KISWATE Digital Academy was launched. Veteran Luo journalist Josephine Sirega joined to lead translation in over 40 ethnic languages, starting with Luo.
July 2025
Legal expert Henry Kurauka was brought on board to engage the Ministry of Education and TSC for national partnerships.
August 2025
Renowned NGO leader Joshua Olang was approached to develop a lean remote workforce, revamp HR, and partner with all 47 counties to sponsor schools into Digital Schools and map out a strategy on how to to introduce the idea to other African countries starting with East Africa Community member states.
